Year 2021 Synopsis

Summary: Easton reached a UTR of 6.1 in early summer after becoming the lead player on the Mission College Prep men’s tennis team as a freshman and helping the team reach the CIF Division IV final. He continued to train with Devin Barber and attended a weeklong tennis camp in Sewanee, Tennessee.

Full details:

Easton continued to train at the Paso Robles Sports Club under the guidance of Devin Barber, former Division 1 player for Cal Poly and former hitting partner of WTA players Victoria Azarenka and Bethanie Mattek-Sands. Easton also continued with the ongoing UTR matches at Avila Bay Club, and by mid February had raised his UTR to 5.5.

Easton joined the tennis team at Mission College Prep in San Luis Obispo as a freshman. In early February, after learning from his peers that other local high school tennis teams were already practicing, Easton spearheaded two unofficial team practices to build team skills and camaraderie while Mission College Prep finalized its upcoming practice schedule. Official practices began in mid February.

Prior to the start of the season, Easton earned the #1 position on the Mission Prep varsity tennis team.

In 2021 Mission College Prep went undefeated in San Luis Obispo County's Ocean League. Mission Prep advanced to the Division Four CIF tournament and made it to finals. In the finals, Easton won his singles match (6-3, 6-4) while the team fell just short (4-5) of the title. It was a successful season with tremendous team effort and bonding led by Coach John Krossa.

In correspondence, one of Easton's Mission College Prep assistant coaches wrote, "We were so impressed with the way that Easton pushed his teammates to become better throughout the season."

In June of 2021, Easton raised his UTR to 6.1. He also earned his high school award for Digital Photography and earned a Cum Laude distinction for Latin.

In mid June, Easton attended a weeklong tennis camp at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, regarded as one of the top camps of its kind in the nation. Easton enjoyed staying in the dorms, playing tennis “for six hours a day” and participating in extracurricular activities such as bowling. At the end-of-camp awards ceremony, he was named “MVP” of his group of 20 players.
